Dental Clinic Provides Free Dental Care for Cancer Patients

by FreeDentalWork.org Staff on May 6, 2011

The Hulston Cancer Center in Springfield, MO, has a unique program that provides free dental care for cancer patients who need x-rays or extractions before they can begin treatment for their head and neck cancer.

Many patients with head and neck cancer require extensive dental care, ranging from full dental evaluations to x-rays and extractions, before they can begin chemotherapy and radiation treatment, explained Karen Hahn, RN, a nurse coordinator for the lung, head, and neck cancer programs at the center.

But many cannot afford the dental care necessary to ensure that they have no oral infections before cancer treatments can begin.

While my children are part of the Medicaid plan through the State of Mo, I & my husband are not. Therefore we do not have any dental coverage & somehow we over qualify for assistance from the state. I have several broken teeth along with a few others that aren’t far from breaking due to not being able to afford dental work.
I need some information on some free or discount clinics. I have tried SEVERAL times to get into Jordan Valley but they never return my phone calls.
Please help! I am so desperate to have a pretty smile again.
